Rising stars showcased in Feedlot Education Award

Six high achieving individuals have been named finalists in the Australian Lot Feeders' Association’s (ALFA) esteemed Excellence in Feedlot Education Medal.

The ‘Medal’ as it’s affectionately known by lot feeders across the country is designed to recognise those individuals actively investing in upskilling themselves in the fundamentals of lot feeding through eLearning in Feedlot Fundamentals through the Australian Feedlot Training, Education & Careers Hub, Feedlot TECH.

Proudly sponsored by Zoetis, the Education Medal underscores ALFA's commitment to fostering a skilled and engaged workforce in the Australian feedlot industry.

The finalists for the 2024 Excellence in Feedlot Education Medal are:

  • April Kratzmann, Smithfield Cattle Company - Sapphire Feedlot

  • Cindy-Lee Dowdell, Paradise Enterprises - Paradise Beef

  • Damien Lynes, JBS - Northern Feedlots

  • Erin Gaff, Drury Farming Company - Condabri Beef

  • John Caffrey, Camm Agricultural Group - Wonga Plains Feedlot

  • Kate Andison, Reid River Export Depot

These six finalists will now progress to a second round judging, which involves an online interview with the finalists and their manager.

From this round, three entrants will be named "Masters of Lot Feeding" and awarded a complimentary ticket to ALFA's BeefEx Conference in October 2024, where the overall Medal winner will be announced.

Delivered on behalf of industry as part of ALFA’s Recognition of Excellence Program, this Award is one of many ways the lot feeding sector seeks to recognise and celebrate individuals and businesses that strive for excellence.
