Young professionals keen to shape the future of the lot feeding industry are called to join the Australian Lot Feeders' Association’s (ALFA) latest initiative, the ALFA Future Feeders Network (FFN).
Launched in October at ALFA’s BeefEx Conference in Brisbane, the ALFA Future Feeders Network represents a significant step forward in engaging and empowering the next generation of lot feeders.
Driven by a committee made up of network members, applications for the inaugural ALFA Future Feeders Network Committee are now open, with passionate individuals under 35 years of age encouraged to apply before midnight on 8 December 2024 via the ALFA website.
Tim Brennan, inaugural Chair of the ALFA Future Feeders Network Committee, said that the ALFA FFN is a unique opportunity for young people in the industry to make connections and meaningful industry contributions.
"The ALFA FNN is more than a networking group – it's a platform for young lot feeders to actively shape the future of the feedlot industry in Australia," said Mr Brennan.
"We're looking for passionate individuals who want to drive innovation and collaboration within our industry, while working on their own professional development."
ALFA President, Grant Garey, highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative for the industry's future.
"The lot feeding sector plays a crucial role in Australia's livestock production chain, and through this new network, we're investing in the next generation of lot feeders who will drive our industry forward with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas," Mr Garey said.
“By engaging with our young lot feeding professionals on the ground through the ALFA FFN, we’re aiming to build a dynamic, inclusive network where the next generation can explore career paths, develop skills, and actively contribute to the future of the sector.”
The network will deliver strategic, industry-focused activities aimed at fostering connections and providing professional development. ALFA FFN Members will benefit from exclusive access to industry events, networking opportunities, and professional development resources.
The inaugural ALFA FFN Committee, with the support of ALFA and partners, will focus on delivering a regional forum in the latter half of 2025, designed and delivered by young lot feeder professionals – a first in the lot feeding sector.
