The Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA) secretariat supports the Board and Committees in delivering membership services and industry representation.
CEO
Christian Mulders
Christian has come to ALFA with excellent policy and advocacy experience, strategy and communication skills and long-term relationships with industry leaders, commercial operators, government officials, other peak industry bodies and our service providers.
Prior to joining ALFA as CEO, Christian was most recently employed with the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) within their senior Executive team representing the meat processing industry in livestock, animal welfare, meat quality and product integrity matters.
A key contributor to industry programs, Christian has held senior positions on various working groups and committees including SAFEMEAT, Meat Standards Australia, Livestock Production Assurance, National Vendor Declarations, and the National Livestock Identification System.

Madie Hamilton
Madie is a farmer's daughter originally hailing from a sheep property outside Mudgee, NSW. Madie holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics (Hons) majoring in Agribusiness from The University of Sydney. Madie has held various positions at ALFA from the Executive Officer, to Manager - Membership, Communications & Capability to now holding the COO role.
Prior to ALFA, Madie has held Communication & Marketing positions within GrainGrowers Ltd and Syngenta Australia & New Zealand. Madie has a passion for building skills and leadership capacity within the agricultural industry and communicating the grain fed beef story to consumers.

Michael ‘Bomber’ Lancaster
Bomber commenced at ALFA in 2023 in the role of General Manager – Policy, after an extensive career in the government sector.
FEEDLOT TECHNICAL SERVICES OFFICER
Jeff House
Jeff is contracted to ALFA to deliver technical services to the lot feeding industry. The role is jointly funded through ALFA and MLA, and has been created to deliver information, education, training and technical services to improve management practices among cattle lot feeders throughout Australia.
Jeff is available to provide advice and assistance to all existing feedlots, as well as anyone looking to develop a feedlot or going through the feedlot establishment process, at no cost. Read Jeff's columns here.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Lexa Blandis
Lexa Blandis brings together ALFA’s workshops, training and events program to engage the Australian beef feedlot industry and enhance their skills while promoting best practice.
With a corporate background in change management, training and adoption, Lexa possesses a wealth of experience, ensuring that each event is tailored to meet the evolving needs of the feedlot community. Among her notable achievements, Lexa has facilitated successful initiatives such as SmartBeef23, the ALFA Shade Tour, and ALFA’s MPM Programs, strengthening and further developing the industry’s capabilities.
Looking ahead, Lexa is committed to educating the feedlot industry and engaging the broader community. Her goal is to facilitate networks that strengthen the industry's collective knowledge and drive continuous improvement in feedlot practices.
TRAINING & EDUCATION MANAGER
Emily Litzow
Emily is a professional with a passion for agriculture and livestock, based in Brisbane, Australia. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science and a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health, she has cultivated a deep understanding of the livestock industry. With over 15 years of hands-on experience, Emily has honed her skills and expertise in various facets of livestock management with a passion for animal health and biosecurity.
Emily is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of livestock professionals. Working in the training space, she finds immense fulfillment in sharing her knowledge and experiences with aspiring individuals.
MANAGER – POLICY
Meg Rice
Meg has a strong background in the agricultural industry and policy development.
After graduating from the University of New England with a Bachelor of Agriculture/Law, Meg was admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of NSW.
Meg joined the federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in 2020, working across the areas of water regulation, drought policy, live animal export, and trade and market access. Whilst working with the department, Meg was involved in a number of policy reform projects and led the secretariat for the department and live animal export industry roundtable working group.
Meg is actively involved in her local community and the broader agriculture industry, serving on various committees and Boards, including as Board Director and Company Secretary of award-winning national charity Country to Canberra.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Annabelle Madden
Born into a grain-fed beef producing family, Annabelle’s entire life has been devoted to caring for cattle and country. In her role, she works to deliver ALFA’s Community Engagement and Industry Capacity marketing and communications to our members.
Annabelle joined the ALFA team in 2023 after working in marketing and communications roles at Meat & Livestock Australia and Smithfield Cattle Company. She is passionate about educating our communities about the importance red meat plays in feeding the world and supporting lot feedings role in the supply chain.
PROJECT MANAGER – FEEDLOT INDUSTRY BIOSECURITY
Rachael O'Brien
Rachael is highly skilled in the field of Livestock Biosecurity encompassing animal welfare and the supply chain and has a vast amount of experience developing and delivering tools that enhance biosecurity preparedness.
Rachael started her career in Biosecurity in 2010 where she held positions within Biosecurity Queensland that focused on supply chain biosecurity, compliance and interstate connectivity. Rachael is also highly experienced in emergency animal disease responses having held various positions within Queensland Emergency Disease responses during this period.
Rachael is very keen to assist ALFA members to develop fit for purpose tools that enhance their biosecurity and EAD preparedness whilst working with the jurisdictions to strengthen Australia’s biosecurity system.
ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR
Lorraine Mills
An experienced and reliable office administrator with over 20+ years in Corporate Services. Lorraine joined the ALFA team in 2024 after working 15 years with Australian egg farmers and is skilled in stakeholder relationship management, customer service, and administrative operations.
