It is a great honour to be named the 18th ALFA President, and I thank my fellow ALFA Directors for selecting me for this role.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Barb Madden for her exceptional leadership during her three-year tenure as ALFA President.
Barb has been an outstanding advocate for our industry, guiding our association through a period of significant growth in the lot feeding sector. Her dedication to the role and the many varied tasks she undertook as a volunteer on behalf of our industry is truly commendable. I also want to thank Barb’s family and business for their unwavering support during this time.
At ALFA’s November Board meeting, we also bid farewell to three Directors. I want to sincerely thank Lauren McNally and Lucy Morris for their valuable contributions during their time on the Board.
A special acknowledgment goes to Scott Braund, who stepped down after an incredible 24 years as an ALFA Director. Scott’s dedication to serving our industry has been nothing short of remarkable. On behalf of the entire industry, I extend our deepest gratitude to Scott. At the same meeting, we welcomed Brad Robinson to the ALFA Board, and I look forward to working with him.
Having been an ALFA Director since 2005, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to various aspects of the organisation, including chairing numerous ALFA committees, serving as Vice President for several years, and representing members' views on industry committees.
My entire career has been dedicated to lot feeding, starting in 1995 as a feed truck driver at Sandalwood Feedlot after completing university, and now as General Manager of Feedlots for Teys Australia. I am genuinely passionate about cattle feeding, grain fed beef, and especially supporting people to grow and succeed in our industry.
As we reflect on 2024, I encourage all members to review ALFA’s Year in Review document, which was recently distributed. It’s a valuable reminder of the activities and initiatives ALFA has undertaken this year to support our members.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to work alongside my fellow Directors and the ALFA team to build on our successes. Together, we will continue fostering excellence and integrity, improving the business environment for feedlots, and enhancing our standing within the community.
Wishing everyone a prosperous 2025 for Australian grain fed beef.
