Introduction to Feedlot Fundamentals

Stakeholders, school and university students can engage with and learn about the grain fed beef production system with the new Introduction to Feedlot Fundamentals course, the latest educational initiative developed by ALFA & MLA now available on our online training platform, Feedlot TECH.



This new course aims to introduce students to the lot feeding industry and highlight the diverse career opportunities within the sector. By introducing this course to students, ALFA seeks to showcase the feedlot industry as an attractive and rewarding career path.



COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course introduces the grain fed beef production system and provides background on the product's unique attributes.


Upon completion of the "Introduction to Feedlot Fundamentals" course, participants will:

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge about the Australian lot feeding industry

  • Understand the unique attributes of grain-fed beef

  • Grasp the complexities of the grain-fed beef production system, including animal welfare and environmental considerations

  • Explore the various feedlot career pathways


This innovative eLearning experience provides a solid foundational understanding of the grain-fed beef production system, offering a deeper insight into the lot feeding industry's practices methods.

 

The Introduction to Feedlot Fundamentals course was created as part of ALFA’s wider careers and training strategy designed to deliver a full set of eLearning courses and resources covering the fundamentals of lot feeding in Australia. The Introduction to Feedlot Fundamentals course is a strong step towards shaping the future workforce of Australia's grain-fed beef sector.



An initiative of ALFA, in collaboration with Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), the Introduction to Feedlots Fundamentals eLearning course is available through the feedlot industry’s Training, Education and Careers Hub, Feedlot TECH.
