Australian Roller Mills & Engineering sees the roller mill as the heart of the feedlot and have designed an improved roller mill that is superior to other roller mills on the market.
They have designed and manufactured a robust machine that has user-safety and functionality at the forefront whilst maintaining accuracy and consistency in the final feed product which feedlot operators can rely on.
Australian Roller Mills & Engineering Pty Ltd has entered this innovation into the ALFA Award for Innovation 2022, proudly supported by Integrated Animal Production. The winner will be announced at the ALFA BeefEx22 Conference in October. Read on to find out more about this innovation within the feedlot industry.
Tell us, how is the innovation original/innovative?
Proudly designed by Joe Garske, Director of Australian Roller Mills & Engineering, the roller mill has four main design points that demonstrate innovation that are in relation to user-safety, ease of operation, faster roll changes and the use of modern manufacturing and fabrication processes.
Designed to meet Australian Safety standards, the Australian Roller Mills mill is fully guarded. The rotating shafts are traditionally exposed in other roller mills on the market, creating a higher risk of operator injury. Australian Roller Mills has addressed this safety issue by designing a fully-guarded machine without compromising the usability.
Improved ease of use for operators. The roller mill has a unique fine roll adjustment that is simple to use and is aided by the visual metric guide which allows for a precise and consistent feed product.
The roller mill has been designed with a very easy roll change process that allows for an extremely fast roll change, cutting downtime of the roller mill to under 2 hours.
The roller mill was designed so that it could be produced with modern manufacturing and fabrication processes such as laser cutting.
So, how does it benefit the Australian Lot Feeding Industry?
In regards to the benefits of the Australian Roller Mills roller mill design, one very important advantage is the quick and easy roll change process. Australian Roller Mills & Engineering understands that it is vital that roller mill downtime is kept to a minimum to avoid disruptions to the feedlot feeding operations. When compared to other roller mills on the market that may have a down time of up to a day, the Australian Roller Mills design is truly a gamechanger.
The overall design also boasts an increased throughput, producing more tonneage per hour than other comparably-sized mills on the market and the final feed product is of a consistently very high quality to meet the feedlotter's requirements.
Additionally, the fully-guarded design of our roller mill reduces the risk of workplace accidents.
And how does it integrate into Australian Lot Feeding operations?
Our roller mill's compact design allows for it to be seamlessly installed into existing feedlot operations. Australian Roller Mills have designed multiple size options to cater for different sized feedlot operations to suit existing and new operations.
