Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) Accredited Training | 2026



Enrolments will open in 2026 for the ALFA Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) Accredited Training, delivered in person across Australia.


The two-day training course, delivered by a feedlot veterinarian and ALFA’s Technical Services Officer Jeff House, is aimed at providing feedlot managers, supervisors, key training personnel and quality assurance officers with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills for the management, assessment, auditing and on-the-job training of animal welfare within a feedlot operation.


This workshop will be run as a combination of classroom and on-site (feedlot) practical work-based assignments followed by a post-course assessment process.


CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of the online training and post-training assessment, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment from TAFE Queensland (RTO Number 0275) for

the Animal Welfare Officer Skill Set, containing the following units of competency:

  • AMPLSK201 Apply animal welfare and handling requirements

  • AMPLSK401 Oversee humane handling of animals

Each enrolled person is required to provide at enrolment confirmation (post registration):

LOCATIONS AND DATES

The two-day workshop will be delivered several locations across Australia, announced closer to the time.

Class sizes are capped at 25 people to allow for optimal group learning. Dates and locations are subject to change. Any enrolled people will be notified.
